About us
We are a thriving childcare setting in the heart of Ledbury at The Hive. Our setting is committee run and a registered charity. We value the importance of play, particularly outdoor play and learning, which is at the heart of what we do. We are very fortunate to have a Forest School garden where our children have the opportunity to use tools and toast marshmallows on campfires! All children are treated as unique, and activities are planned according to their interests, preferences, learning styles and development.
We are looking to appoint a motivated, committed and enthusiastic Deputy Manager with a passion for high-quality early years education and care. The successful candidate will work closely with the Manager to support the day-to-day running of our setting, lead by example, inspire and support the staff team, and help maintain our nurturing, inspiring and child-centred environment.
Who are we looking for?
The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the Manager with the day-to-day operations of our setting, helping to ensure the highest standards of care, education and safeguarding are consistently maintained. They will be involved in planning and supervising engaging play opportunities both indoors and outdoors, supporting the staff team, and contributing to the smooth and effective running of our setting.
As Deputy Manager, you will lead by example, promoting outstanding practice and creating a positive, supportive working environment for colleagues. You will support the Manager with the operational responsibilities of our setting, including helping to oversee the daily organisation of the setting, maintaining high standards of practice, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, and confidently taking responsibility for the setting in the Manager's absence.
You will also be responsible for a group of key children, planning, observing and promoting children's development through engaging, child-led activities. You will mentor and support colleagues, encouraging professional development and consistently modelling high-quality early years practice.
Applicants must hold a relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification and have previous experience working within an Early Years setting, ideally in a senior or supervisory role. Applicants will have an excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), child development and play-based learning and be able to demonstrate this in practice. A sound understanding of safeguarding and safer working practices is essential.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling them to build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and other professionals. They should be organised, approachable, proactive and able to work collaboratively while using their own initiative to support the continued success of our setting.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Offers of employment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references.
