We are currently recruiting for for an exciting opportunity within our organisation basedacross HMP Kilmarnock and our Community Hub in Kilmarnock.
IPS Employment Practitioner
Location: HMP Kilmarnock and Reconnect Scotland CIC Community Hub, Kilmarnock, withcommunity outreach as required
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (subject to continued funding)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, however evening and weekend work may be required to meet service delivery needs.
About the Role:
The IPS Employment Practitioner will support individuals in custody and within the
community to access employment, education and training opportunities through the
Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.
The successful candidate will provide intensive one-to-one support to individuals facing
multiple and complex barriers including offending history, addiction, trauma, poor mental
health, homelessness and long-term unemployment.
The role will involve vocational profiling, action planning, employer engagement,
partnership working and ongoing in-work support for participants and employers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver the IPS model in line with evidence-based practice
- Build positive and professional relationships with participants
- Support individuals to access employment, education and training opportunities
- Assist individuals to overcome barriers impacting progression
- Develop relationships with employers and training providers
- Deliver one-to-one and group employability support
- Work collaboratively with prison staff and partner agencies
- Maintain accurate and confidential records
Essential Criteria:
- Experience within employability, criminal justice, addictions, mental health or community support services
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and case management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice
- Ability to pass PVG and prison security clearance
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge or experience of the IPS model
- Experience working within custodial settings
- Employer engagement experience
- Relevant professional qualification
