Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced 3.5-ton Van Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering goods efficiently and safely to various locations, ensuring customer satisfaction and adhering to all road safety regulations. Duties
- Safely operate a 3.5-ton van to deliver goods to clients and suppliers across designated routes
- Plan delivery schedules in accordance with company guidelines and customer requirements
- Load and unload items, often involving heavy lifting, ensuring items are secured properly during transit
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts, reporting any faults or issues promptly
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies to ensure safety at all times
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery times or any unforeseen delays
- Assist in warehouse activities when required, including stock organisation and inventory checks
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably within a commercial or logistics environment
- Valid <PERSON> driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best driving practices in the UK
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during loading and unloading processes
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with customers and team members
- Organised with the ability to plan routes effectively for timely deliveries
- Experience in warehouse operations is advantageous but not essential
- Physically fit, able to handle physically demanding tasks associated with loading/unloading cargo
