About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, confident and motivated Automotive Sales & Operations Assistant to join our growing used-car dealership.
This is a hands-on team role involving both vehicle sales and the day-to-day running of the dealership. You will work closely with the senior team and will be expected to take responsibility for your tasks, communicate effectively with customers and help keep the day-to-day operation running smoothly.
The ideal candidate will have a good command of spoken and written English, be confident dealing with customers and have a genuine interest in cars and sales.
No two days will necessarily be the same, so we are looking for someone who is flexible, proactive and willing to get involved across different areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Responding to customer enquiries by phone, email and online platforms
- Assisting with vehicle sales from initial enquiry through to completion
- Welcoming customers and conducting vehicle viewings
- Accompanying customers on test drives
- Following up with prospective customers and sales leads
- Creating and updating vehicle advertisements across online platforms
- Taking vehicle photographs and preparing cars for advertising
- Assisting with vehicle stock management
- Helping coordinate MOTs, servicing, vehicle preparation and deliveries
- Assisting with vehicle collections and drop-offs when required
- Completing general administrative tasks relating to vehicle sales
- Maintaining accurate customer and vehicle records
- Helping maintain the appearance and organisation of the dealership and vehicles
- Supporting the senior team with general day-to-day dealership activities
- Carrying out other reasonable tasks required to keep the business operating efficiently
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence – automatic licence minimum
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Previous experience in sales, customer service or a customer-facing role
- Confident communicating with customers both face-to-face and over the phone
- Professional and friendly manner
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Comfortable working as part of a small team
- Able to work independently and take initiative when required
- Willing to carry out a variety of practical and administrative tasks
- Basic computer literacy
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Previous experience in the automotive or motor trade industry
- Used-car sales experience
- Knowledge of Japanese or imported vehicles
- Experience with online vehicle advertising platforms
- Experience using CRM, stock management or other business systems
- Previous experience handling sales leads and customer follow-ups
