Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, whilst assisting the Nursery Manager in overseeing staff and programme delivery. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with management experience in early childhood settings to contribute to high-quality childcare services. The Deputy Nursery Manager will be responsible for maintaining organisational standards, supporting staff development, and fostering positive relationships with children and parents alike.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Nursery Manager in the overall organisation and smooth running of the nursery
- Supervise and support nursery staff, ensuring high standards of childcare and education are maintained
- Lead daily activities, ensuring they are engaging, age-appropriate, and aligned with early childhood education principles
- Support staff training programmes and facilitate professional development opportunities
- Oversee child safeguarding procedures and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
- Foster positive relationships with parents, providing updates on children's progress and addressing concerns effectively
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of curriculum activities that promote children's development
- Support recruitment processes, including interviewing potential staff members
- Ensure the nursery environment is clean, safe, and welcoming at all times
Experience
- Proven management experience within a nursery or early childhood education setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team of childcare professionals
- Experience working directly with children across various age groups
- Knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding policies, and health & safety standards
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care or equivalent are desirable
- Experience in early childhood education programmes is preferred
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for operational flexibility
