Overview:
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to join our Engineering team to carry out varied Mechanical Works on our clients sites.
Due to the nature of this role, regular travel to client sites and lodging away may be required to suit the businesses needs.
Working hours are 7am - 3pm, call out duties are done on a weekly rota.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise mechanical installation, maintenance, refurbishment, and commissioning activities across multiple engineering projects.
- Coordinate daily site operations, labour allocation, plant, tools, materials, and subcontractors to maximise productivity and project performance.
- Act as the primary site representative, maintaining effective communication with clients, Project Engineers, Project Managers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain programme and budget targets.
- Conduct site inspections, surveys, and quality assurance checks to ensure work complies with engineering specifications, drawings, and relevant standards.
- Ensure all site documentation is completed accurately, including permits to work, risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), inspection reports, and daily progress records.
- Lead toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings while promoting a positive safety culture.
- Supervise and mentor engineers, apprentices, and contractors, providing coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
- Support Project Engineers & Project Managers with planning, resource forecasting, procurement requirements, and technical problem-solving.
- Participate in design reviews and provide practical site-based engineering input to improve constructability and project delivery.
- Ensure effective management of equipment, vehicles, tools, and company assets.
Skills & Qualifications
- Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive experience supervising mechanical engineering projects within construction, utilities, infrastructure, or water industries.
- Strong understanding of mechanical installations including pipework, steelwork, valves, penstocks, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- SMSTS or SSSTS.
- CSCS Supervisor Card.
- First Aid at Work.
- Full valid UK Driving License
