Summary
We are seeking talented and passionate individuals responsible for providing excellent customer service in the restaurant. The primary task is to ensure guests have an enjoyable dining experience, from taking orders and delivering food to making sure that everything is prepared to their satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Attentive Guest Service: Welcome guests warmly, present menus, take food and beverage orders, and ensure a polished, high-quality dining experience from start to finish.
- Menu Knowledge: Stay well-informed about all the menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, specials, and wine pairings to confidently assist guests.
- Coordination with Kitchen and Bar: Communicate guest orders clearly and efficiently to the kitchen and bar, and ensure timely, accurate delivery of items to the table.
- Support Team Operations: Work collaboratively with fellow waitstaff, hosts, and runners to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of service throughout each shift.
- Monitor Tables: Stay attentive to assigned tables, anticipating guest needs such as refills, additional orders, or clearing plates, without being intrusive.
- Handle Guest Concerns: Address guest questions or minor concerns professionally and refer larger issues to the Head Waiter or Manager as appropriate.
- Maintain Cleanliness and Order: Ensure tables, chairs, and surrounding areas are clean and neatly arranged at all times, adhering to hygiene and presentation standards.
- Follow Service Standards: Execute service steps and etiquette as defined by the restaurant, including proper handling of plates, glassware, and cutlery.
- Assist with Stock and Setup: Help restock service stations, polish glassware and silverware, and assist in setting up or resetting tables as needed.
- Present a Professional Image: Maintain a clean and polished appearance, upholding the restaurant’s standards of professionalism and courtesy.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service and/or the food and beverage industry is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, good memory and attention to detail, basic math skills, multitasking and time management.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, and able to carry and balance trays of food or beverages.
- Personality: Sociable, friendly demeanour, positive energy, and able to maintain composure in fast-paced, busy environment.
- Certifications: Food safety certification (preferred but not mandatory).
- Other: Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
