Riverside Out of School Care (ROSC) is a busy out of school care service providing places for breakfast, after school care and holiday clubs for primary-aged children. We also provide places for children with additional support needs. ROSC is a charity and voluntary service with a committee made up of parents. ROSC is registered with the Care Inspectorate.
We are based in Riverside Primary School, Stirling and provide up to forty places every day for breakfast club, after school care, and holiday club.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, nurturing and outgoing out of school care playworker who has experience working with primary aged children. We have an emphasis on outdoor play, encouraging children to play outside when possible. We organise outdoor activities in the holiday clubs so experience with this would be great. ROSC is mostly child-led play, however experience planning and facilitating creative and engaging play is valuable for this role.
We would like someone who is responisble, reliable and flexible. Being able to work on your own initiative and be proactive is a key part of this job.
Experience of working with children with additional support needs including autism, is not required but preferred. Understanding inclusion and supporting a diverse range of needs is a preferred quality for this role, however training and support will be provided.
A relevant SVQ qualification is preferred but online training will be offered.
What you’ll do:
Work with colleagues as part of a team to provide a safe, inviting and stimulating environment that encourages the children to play in a creative and imaginative way.
Encourage the children’s independence, wellbeing and self-esteem.
Assist with record keeping and follow policies and procedures, participate in the quality assurance of the service and be able to communicate with children and staff.
We offer either flexible hours agreed mutually or a set pattern of hours. Ideally, you would be available for three or more breakfast shifts or after school shifts a week. School term time hours are
- 7.55-9.10 am for breakfasts
- 3-6 pm for the afternoon sessions
School holidays hours are worked in shift pattern agreed and set by the manager, to deliver a service between 8.30 am – 5.30pm. Working more hours is required during the holidays. We do not run a service over Christmas, New Year and Easter weekend.
This role requires registration with the SSSC, so the applicants should hold or be working towards the appropriate qualifications for registration or be prepared to undergo training. All applicants will need to be a member of the PVG scheme or prepared to join it.
If you would like to come to work with a great bunch of children, please send in your CV and if you meet the criteria, ROSC will send out further details and an application form.
