Lead Detached Youth Worker – Piccadilly Gardens Project
Salary: £22,761 per annum

Lead Youth Work in the Heart of Manchester
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Detached Youth Worker to coordinate and deliver an exciting detached youth work project within Piccadilly Gardens and it's surrounding areas.
The successful candidate will lead a small detached youth work team delivering open-access, voluntary and relationship-based youth work with young people in one of Manchester's most diverse and visible public spaces. Working in accordance with Manchester Detached Youth Work Protocols, you will build trusted relationships with young people, support their participation and wellbeing, and ensure the project achieves meaningful outcomes for the children and young people who engage with the service.
This role combines frontline detached youth work with project coordination, safeguarding oversight, staff support, monitoring and partnership working with Manchester City Council and other key stakeholders.
Working Pattern
The project delivers detached youth work sessions Tuesday to Friday, 4.00pm – 7.00pm (12 hours per week).
The remaining contracted hours will be used for:
- Project planning and preparation
- Supervision and support of detached youth work staff
- Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Partnership meetings and stakeholder engagement
- Safeguarding and case management
- Training and professional development
