Be Heard As One (BHAO) is seeking a committed, compassionate and community-focused Youth Worker to join our multidisciplinary team. BHAO is an East London grassroots charity supporting children and young people aged 9–24 through mentoring, outreach, detached youth work, youth clubs, workshops, advocacy and therapeutic support.
The successful candidate will build trusted, respectful relationships with young people, including those who may be vulnerable, disadvantaged, disengaged or considered hard to reach. Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed and person-centred approach, the Youth Worker will help young people recognise their potential, make positive choices and work towards independence and sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive activities that reflect young people’s needs, interests and voices.
- Provide one-to-one and group mentoring, supporting young people to establish and achieve meaningful SMART goals.
- Deliver youth club, outreach and detached youth work activities within community, education and other public or private settings.
- Promote emotional well-being, resilience, educational engagement, life skills, positive relationships and consequential thinking.
- Adapt support for young people with SEND, additional needs or communication barriers.
- Identify safeguarding concerns, follow BHAO procedures and contribute to effective risk management.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, schools, local authorities and partner agencies as part of a Team Around the Child.
- Maintain accurate, timely records of attendance, interventions, progress, outcomes and incidents.
Skills
- Experience working with children or young people in educational or community settings.
- The Ideal Candidate will have access to their own vehicle as our work can be supporting Young people in a variety of different location.
- Strong teaching abilities to facilitate learning and skill development.
- Proven mentoring skills to guide young individuals through challenges and growth opportunities.
- Knowledge of youth work principles, including safeguarding procedures and behaviour management.
- Experience with special education needs (SEN) is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is important.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster trust with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Organised, patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting positive youth development.
- A commitment to BHAO’s values of advocacy, sustainability, attainment, respect and integrity is essential.

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
