We are seeking an experienced and motivated operational leader to join our Directorate in a pivotal management role. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the Directorate delivers high-quality, safe, and effective services while meeting national performance standards, quality requirements, and Trust objectives.
Working closely with Clinical Leads, multidisciplinary teams, and senior managers, the successful candidate will provide visible leadership across the service, ensuring the effective day-to-day operational management of designated specialties.
The post holder will also lead on governance, risk management, complaints handling, workforce planning, and data quality processes, ensuring services remain compliant with Trust and national standards.
In addition, the successful candidate will support the development and implementation of service improvement initiatives, contribute to business case development and recruitment planning, and provide direct line management to Team Leaders and the Rota Coordinator. The role demands strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and make decisions in challenging and often conflicting situations.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the daily management and coordination of Gynaecology services, including Referral to Treatment (RTT) 18-week pathways and Cancer Patient Tracking Lists (PTLs).
Monitoring, managing and improving performance against RTT, cancer and diagnostic standards, ensuring timely access to treatment and care.
Supporting Directorate Team Leaders to identify capacity constraints and implement solutions to maximise service provision and improve patient flow.
Liaising with external healthcare providers to support timely referrals and achievement of the 28-day Faster Diagnosis Standard.
Collaborating with Clinical Leads, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Matrons and multidisciplinary teams to support service delivery and pathway performance.
Ensuring cancer pathways are regularly reviewed and aligned with national guidance and local service standards.
Ensuring clinical documentation supports the timely progression and closure of patient pathways.
Attending and supporting weekly Cancer MDT meetings, RTT reviews and performance meetings, escalating issues and providing exception reporting where required.
Working collaboratively with Elective and Cancer Management teams to support the development and delivery of robust performance improvement trajectories.
Analysing activity, outcome and performance data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement across RTT and cancer pathways.
