Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Domiciliary Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care services in patients' homes and community settings. This role offers the opportunity to deliver personalised eye health assessments and solutions, particularly focusing on senior and vulnerable populations. The ideal candidate will possess strong patient care skills, a solid understanding of ocular anatomy, and experience working with elderly or disabled individuals. This position is fully paid and involves working independently within a supportive team environment.
Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations in patients' homes, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the process
- Assess visual acuity and diagnose ocular conditions using specialised equipment
- Prescribe corrective lenses and advise on appropriate visual aids tailored to individual needs
- Provide advice on eye health maintenance and disease prevention
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, particularly for senior or mobility-impaired clients
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with data protection regulations
- Educate patients on the proper use and care of prescribed eyewear and visual aids
- Stay updated with the latest developments in optometry practices and ocular health management
Experience
- Proven experience as an optometrist, preferably with a background in domiciliary or community-based care
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy related to the eye and visual system
- Experience working with elderly or disabled patients, demonstrating sensitivity and adaptability
- Excellent patient care skills, including effective communication and empathy
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple appointments efficiently
- Relevant professional registration and licensing in accordance with UK regulations
