Role Overview
The Fire Application Engineering Specialist, United Kingdom and Continental Europe, supports all regions through the Regional Sales Enablement Center (RSEC) by providing technical expertise, proposal development, and training for Armstrong Fire solutions.
This role ensures that Fire products are integrated into customer discussions and project opportunities across the region. Working closely with the Fire Offering Management, Sales Management, Aftermarket, Service and Engineering teams, to support strategy execution resulting in growth of the Fire business while enabling partners and contractors through technical support and training.
This is an on-site role with occasional travel requirement inside of the UK and to Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Application Support
- Evaluate customer enquiries, specifications, and drawings to determine the best Armstrong Fire solutions.
- Provide application engineering support to sales teams to ensure Fire solutions are incorporated into project discussions.
- Select appropriate products and support solution development for fire pump systems and packages.
Proposal Development
- Develop, prepare, and present technical proposals that clearly communicate the value of Armstrong Fire solutions.
- Provide pre-sales technical support by gathering documentation, drawings, calculations and other technical information crucial to the sales process’ success.
Sales Enablement & Strategy
- Work with the Fire Offering Management team to execute strategies to grow the Fire business in the dedicated region.
- Support regional sales teams with technical insight, proposal reviews, and solution positioning.
- Coordinate communication between client’s inquiries, external and internal sales teams and offering management.
- Advise and delegate inquiry route (triage) once received from the client/sales manager.
Agent Support & Opportunity Development
- Provide technical and proposal support to Armstrong agents across Canada on fire opportunities.
- Identify and bring strategic fire opportunities from agents into the RSEC for solution development, technical evaluation, and proposal preparation.
- Work with agents and internal teams to strengthen Armstrong’s position on key fire projects.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Deliver training sessions for Armstrong sales teams, service teams, service partners, sprinkler contractors, and representatives.
- Support the development and refinement of training materials and technical curriculum related to Armstrong Fire Solutions.
- Support factory visits focusing on product benefits and production quality.
- Attend exhibitions and trade shows in the dedicated area.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with automatic fire sprinkler systems and/or fire pumps.
OR
- 5+ years of experience in application engineering/internal technical sales and service support.
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding pump systems, pump curves, and hydraulic principles.
- Familiarity with fire standards and codes: BS, EN, LPC, NFPA and FM.
- Experience reviewing technical drawings, datasheets and specifications.
- Strong application engineering background with proven solution concepts.
- Ability to perform quick and simple calculations/conversions in flow and pressure unit domain.
- Previous experience with at least one pump/equipment selection software.
- Overall understanding of diesel and electric drives (motors) working principles.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to develop and deliver technical proposals and presentations.

- Commercial acumen and understanding of product and project value.
- Ability to focus on technical details.
