Job Overview
Are you an experienced cook with a passion for preparing homely, nutritious meals? Brampton Lodge Care Home in Folkestone are looking for a dedicated Cook to join our friendly kitchen team and support the well-being of our residents. Working closely with our Head Cook, who leads the kitchen during the week, you will take responsibility for preparing and serving a three-course lunch for approximately 25 residents.
Duties
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
- Assist in the planning of menus, taking into account seasonal availability and dietary requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and timely service.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report any shortages or discrepancies.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Cook in a restaurant or similar culinary setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary methods, and kitchen equipment.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A passion for cooking and creativity in meal preparation is highly desirable.

The hours will be:
- Saturday and Sunday, 8:00am–2:00pm, on alternate weekends
- Two additional weekdays, on an alternate-week basis, with set days to be agreed
