As an Insurance Enterprise and Solution Architect within Financial Services at Deloitte Digital, your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements across the insurance domain. You will design and develop enterprise-level architecture solutions that align with business goals, customer outcomes, regulatory expectations and operational priorities. This will include shaping architectures across policy administration, underwriting, claims, life and pensions, personal lines, digital servicing, data, integration and cloud-enabled platforms. You will define and document architecture principles, standards and guidelines, provide technical leadership to delivery teams, conduct architecture reviews, evaluate emerging technologies and help clients deliver compliant, customer-focused transformation.
Responsibilities:

Lead the design of enterprise and solution architectures for insurance clients within Financial Services, ensuring alignment with business strategy, customer outcomes, regulatory expectations and Deloitte Digital delivery standards.

Translate business, product and technology requirements into clear architecture blueprints, solution designs, roadmaps and implementation guidance across policy administration systems, underwriting workbenches, claims, life and pensions, personal lines, digital channels, data, integration, security and cloud domains.

Work closely with senior client stakeholders, product owners, engineers, delivery leads and third-party partners to shape pragmatic solutions that balance strategic ambition, delivery feasibility, risk and cost.

Provide technical leadership to delivery teams, setting architecture direction, reviewing designs, resolving key technical decisions and ensuring adherence to agreed principles, patterns and standards.

Support modernisation of legacy insurance platforms by defining target architectures, migration approaches and transition states that reduce complexity, improve resilience and enable faster product, pricing, underwriting, servicing and claims change.

Assess and recommend appropriate technologies, vendors and platforms, including cloud, API management, policy administration, underwriting, claims, customer communications, data, automation and emerging digital insurance capabilities.

Embed security, resilience, scalability, performance, data protection, conduct risk and regulatory compliance considerations into solution design from the outset, including FCA Consumer Duty outcomes and advice/guidance boundary considerations where relevant.

Contribute to architecture governance by preparing materials for design authorities, conducting architecture reviews, managing risks and exceptions, and documenting decisions and trade-offs.

Develop and maintain architecture artefacts such as capability maps, application landscapes, integration views, data flows, roadmaps, decision logs and design documentation.
Help identify opportunities for innovation and measurable impact for insurance clients, bringing awareness of market trends, digital insurance propositions, insurance ecosystems, regulatory change and industry best practices.

Strong knowledge and experience in insurance domains such as policy administration systems, underwriting workbenches, claims, life and pensions, personal lines, digital servicing, customer communications, product governance, conduct risk, FCA Consumer Duty and regulatory compliance.

Proven track record of designing and developing enterprise-level architecture solutions that align with business goals and objectives.

In-depth understanding of architecture principles, standards, and guidelines, with the ability to define and document them effectively.

Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.

Experience conducting architecture reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with standards and best practices.

Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in the insurance industry, and the ability to evaluate their potential impact and recommend adoption strategies.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Proficiency in developing and maintaining architecture artefacts, including diagrams, documentation and roadmaps.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on resolving complex technical issues related to insurance systems and applications.

Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in insurance architecture, including customer outcomes, vulnerable customer considerations, advice/guidance boundaries and operational resilience.
Relevant certifications, such as TOGAF or other architecture certifications, are a plus.
