We’re looking for an organised and proactive Purchasing & Production Planner to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Derby!
This is a varied role combining purchasing, production planning and materials coordination, where you’ll play an important part in keeping production running smoothly. You’ll raise and chase purchase orders, coordinate workloads into the machine shop and shop floor, monitor material requirements and work closely with suppliers and internal teams to keep production on schedule.
This is a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract to cover maternity leave, with the potential to extend or become permanent!
What you’ll be doing
- Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring materials are available when required
- Chase suppliers and monitor delivery dates and lead times
- Plan and coordinate workloads across the machine shop and production floor
- Prioritise production requirements around customer deadlines and schedules
- Monitor stock, material requirements and supplier performance
- Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues and prevent delays
- Maintain accurate records while supporting improvements across purchasing and production planning
Hours
Flexible day shifts (38 hours per week, Monday-Friday)
Monday-Thursday: choice of 7am-3:30pm / 7:30am-4pm / 8am-4:30pm / 8:30am-5pm
Friday: choice of 7am-1pm / 7:30am-1:30pm / 8am-2pm / 8:30am-2:30pm (early finish!)
Pay
£30,000 per annum
Skills/Experience Required
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Experience in production planning, scheduling or purchasing
- Experience raising and chasing purchase orders and liaising with suppliers
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production requirements
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with strong attention to detail
