We have an exciting opportunity for an RVN to join us in leading the Theatre nursing team at our friendly multidisciplinary referral hospital providing the highest standard of nursing care for patients in the Theatre department of the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. This position is ideal for an RVN with extensive surgical and management experience looking to develop their nursing and leadership career.
This is a unique opportunity which involves overseeing all clinical support (RVNs and Sterilising Technicians) activity and the day-to-day management of our theatre suites. Our theatre nurses get the opportunity to circulate and scrub assist under schedule 3 with the incredible surgeries performed by our team of expert surgeons. As Head Theatre RVN you will work closely with the wider hospital teams to provide a high standard of care for our patients.

Providing strong and positive leadership within the specialty nursing service team to ensure the attainment of overall service objectives and highest standards of care to include the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience.

Ensuring the appropriate allocation of resources (people, equipment and facilities) relating to the service.

Manage all procurement activity within the theatre suite including maintaining relationships with external suppliers.

Rota management ensuring continuous provision (24hrs) of an effective clinical service.

Line management of a team of Theatre RVNs and Sterilising Technicians.

Chair meetings and contribute to wider hospital meetings and discussions.

Recruitment and induction of new team members.

Oversee H&S requirements within the theatre suite.
You will have extensive clinical nursing experience together with line management and experience coordinating a team and resources in a busy 24hr hospital or referral hospital environment.
You will be required to supervise and train both veterinary and veterinary nursing students so experience of this would also be advantageous.
