Bridgend County Care and Repair assists older people with disabilities to repair and adapt their homes.
You will be expected to possess a reasonable level of competency in complementary trade disciplines. These skills will be utilised regularly, as directed, to advance the organisation's objectives.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide support to the Agency’s Small Projects and Hospital to Home schemes to ensure an effective and efficient service to meet the housing needs of older people in the community.
- To assist in the effective delivery of the range of fast-track services operated by the Agency in partnership with the Local Authority, Cwm Taf Health Board and the Welsh Government.
KEY HSO TEAM LEADER DUTIES
LINE MANAGEMENT DUTIES:
- To ensure HSOs are fully compliant with all applicable policies & procedures as outlined in the HSO manual to ensure good practice in service delivery across schemes’ range of activities; and report any discrepancies to the Practical Services Manager.
- Co-ordinate van days [in addition to tools and equipment and PPE checks as outlined elsewhere here]: oversee van checks and the cleaning of vans etc.
To ensure all HSOs are fully compliant with the Agency’s GDPR and Safeguarding policies and practices.
- To undertake spot checks to assess HSO on site performance to ensure high standards of customer care, health & safety and quality of building work is maintained.
- To carry out technical audits on a quarterly basis of 10% determined schemes to ensure the quality of work undertaken by HSO’s and external contractors has been carried out to a good standard of workmanship
- To ensure staff are compliant with the Agency’s Attendance Management Policy
- To manage annual leave and flexi time requests from your team ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet business needs at all times.
STOCK CONTROL:
- Monitor stock levels at the yard and on vans and work closely with the Agency’s Finance Team/Agency Director/Practical Services Manager regarding the ordering of new stock.
- To provide regular stock reports including end of year reconciliation with the Agency's auditors.
- To ensure that stock is used effectively and there is adequate stock in place at all times.
- Allocate materials deliveries for each scheme and stack in compartmentalised areas at our premises.
- Ensure all receipts, delivery notes and invoices are submitted to the finance department in a timely manner.
HEALTH & SAFETY:
- To ensure Health and Safety matters are complied with and report any discrepancies to the Practical Services Manager.
- To attend meetings of the Agency’s H&S and other required groups and relay information and policies approved by the group to HSOs. To inform the group of HSO views and concerns and contribute to the group improving/developing policies and procedures.
- To undertake regular toolbox talks with HSOs and keep a log of topics discussed and an attendance register.
- Check PPE is in good working order and suitable for the type of works being carried out and report findings and recommendations for renewal/upgrades/new equipment/clothing to the. Keep a log of PPE issue to officers.
- To regularly assess risk and report any concerns to the Practical Services Manager.
- To carry out and review Risk Assessments in conjunction with the Practical Services Manager to mitigate risk to HSOs and members of the public.
LIAISON WITH EXTERNAL ORGANISATIONS
- To work in partnership with key organisations (i.e. Valleys to Coast, Bridgend County Borough Council etc.).
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- To ensure HSOs are working to capacity in order to deliver value for money and deliver a timely service in accordance with service contracts with partner organisations.
- Ensure site audits are fulfilled on a quarterly basis.
- To ensure the contractual requirements of our partners and commissioned services are met.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To contribute to the development of a schedule of rates for the Small Projects and Hospital to Home services.
- To contribute to ensuring materials are good quality and the cost-effective purchasing of materials and equipment.
- To ensure the warehouse is kept clean and stock is easily accessible in an ordered system.
- Assess and cost schemes, where necessary, from private individual telephone enquiries, or scheme referrals from Occupational Therapists.
- Assist the Agency Director and/or Practical Services Manager in investigating complaints by clients and organisations.
- To carry out a formal “Tools Audit” at least monthly and keep a detailed account/register of all tools/equipment purchased and/or condemned.
- Check tools and equipment condition and report on renewal/upgrades/new tools required.
- To assist HSOs on site in complex works or when required.
GENERAL
- To contribute to the achievement of the Agency’s objectives in improving the overall service to clients by participating in working groups and project teams.
- To adhere to the Agency’s Equal Opportunities policy and procedures within own work and to generally support and promote the Agency’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To adhere to Health and Safety legislation and the Agency’s policies and procedures in relation to health and safety.
- To liaise effectively with people at all levels both internally and externally.
- To undertake any other duties requested by the Line Manager, which are consistent with the overall purpose of the post.
