The role:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a highly motivated and organised Waiting List Coordinator to join the Medical Specialities team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
This is a key role with responsibility for the daily management of inpatient and outpatient waiting lists across Medical Specialties, ensuring accuracy of records, effective use of capacity, and compliance with national and local waiting time targets. You will work closely with the Waiting List Manager, Clinical Service Manager, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to support service delivery and minimise patient waiting times.

Key responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the daytoday management of inpatient and outpatient waiting lists across Medical Specialties, ensuring that patient records are accurate, up to date, and effectively maintained. The role requires you to make the best use of available capacity while supporting compliance with national and local waiting time targets.
A key aspect of the post is monitoring waiting list performance, identifying patients who are at risk of breaching treatment time guarantees, and taking appropriate action to mitigate delays. You will contribute to capacity planning processes and support service delivery improvements to help minimise patient waiting times.
You will also be expected to analyse and interpret complex data, producing reports to support operational decision-making. Effective communication is essential, as you will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical teams, managers, patients, and relatives where appropriate, ensuring information is conveyed clearly and professionally.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to prioritise competing demands in a fastpaced environment
Proficiency in IT systems is essential
Experience with systems such as TrakCare, Microsoft Excel, and data reporting tools is desirable
