The Assistant Technical Officer plays a vital role within Decontamination Services at King’s Mill Hospital, helping to maintain the highest standards of patient safety and quality care across the Trust. Working within Sterile Services, Mattress Decontamination, or Endoscopy, the post holder supports the delivery of a safe, efficient, and responsive service by cleaning, decontaminating, reprocessing, sterilising, and tracking essential medical equipment, surgical instruments, endoscopes, and specialist mattresses. Every item processed plays a crucial role in supporting safe and effective patient care across theatres, wards, and clinical departments.
This is a hands-on, detail-focused role in a fast-paced healthcare environment where accuracy, teamwork, and a commitment to quality are essential. The post holder will operate specialist decontamination equipment, follow strict infection prevention and quality standards, and maintain full traceability through digital tracking systems.
Working as part of a dedicated and supportive team, the Assistant Technical Officer will contribute to a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement while developing valuable specialist skills. This rewarding role provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference behind the scenes, ensuring clinical teams have the equipment they need to deliver excellent patient care.
Zero-hour contracts will be considered.

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.
We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
