East Durham College is looking for an ambitious and experienced leader to join our team as Head of Curriculum - Animal Management. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a successful curriculum area, ensuring students receive an outstanding learning experience while driving high standards of teaching, learning and achievement.
Working closely with the Curriculum Director, you will lead curriculum development, support and manage teaching staff, monitor performance and student outcomes, and build strong relationships with employers and industry partners to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and responsive to sector needs.

Degree in a relevant subject area or industry-recognised qualification.

GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).

Recognised post-16 teaching qualification.

Experience of planning and leading high-quality provision within a relevant curriculum area.

Proven track record of successful teaching and assessment.

Experience of curriculum development and growing student numbers.

Experience of mentoring and developing teaching staff to improve performance.

Excellent IT, organisational and data analysis skills.
-
Detailed knowledge of Ofsted requirements and quality improvement processes.

Recognised management qualification.

Experience of external audits, inspections or Ofsted activity.

Experience of working with awarding organisations and external verifiers.

Experience of resource and people management within an educational setting.

Up-to-date knowledge of funding and delivery requirements across multiple provision types.
