Experienced Door Supervisors – New Licensed Venue | Greenock
About the Role
Centurion Risk Management is recruiting experienced SIA Door Supervisors to form a dedicated three-person security team for a new licensed venue opening in Greenock.
The venue is expected to be extremely busy, high-footfall and fast-paced, particularly during evenings and weekends.
Due to the nature of this deployment, we are specifically looking for Door Supervisors with substantial previous experience working within busy licensed premises.
This is not an entry-level Door Supervisor position.
We are looking for experienced professionals who are confident working in demanding environments and who have the judgement, communication skills and operational experience required to manage challenging situations safely, confidently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Managing entry and maintaining effective control of the venue
- Monitoring customer behaviour and identifying potential issues at an early stage
- Managing refusals of entry professionally and confidently
- Dealing with intoxicated, aggressive or challenging individuals
- De-escalating conflict wherever possible
- Responding appropriately and decisively when situations escalate
- Maintaining a visible, confident and professional security presence
- Protecting customers, venue staff and members of the public
- Supporting venue management with licensing and safety requirements
- Managing ejections where necessary and appropriate
- Responding effectively to incidents and emergencies
- Completing accurate incident reports
- Working closely with the other members of the three-person security team
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence
- Have substantial previous experience working as a Door Supervisor in busy pubs, bars, clubs or late-night licensed premises
- Be confident dealing with confrontation and challenging behaviour
- Demonstrate strong conflict-management and de-escalation skills
- Have excellent situational awareness
- Be capable of remaining calm and making sound decisions under pressure
- Be physically capable of safely carrying out the full duties associated with the role
- Have excellent communication skills
- Work effectively as part of a small, experienced team
- Be reliable and punctual
- Maintain a professional standard of appearance and conduct
The Type of Person We Are Looking For
We are not simply looking to fill three positions.
Our intention is to establish a strong, experienced and dependable core team who will work together regularly, build a good relationship with venue management and take ownership of maintaining standards within the venue.
The strongest candidates will understand that effective Door Supervision is not about seeking confrontation.
It is about command presence, communication, situational awareness, early intervention and sound judgement — combined with the experience and confidence to take appropriate action when a situation cannot be resolved through communication alone.
For that reason, previous operational experience within busy licensed premises is essential.
Applicants who have only recently obtained their SIA licence and have little or no operational Door Supervisor experience are unlikely to be suitable for this particular deployment.
What We Offer
- Regular ongoing work at a new Greenock venue
- Opportunity to become part of the venue's permanent core security team
- Consistent team structure rather than constantly changing personnel
- Support from Centurion Risk Management's operational management
- Further opportunities across our wider security operations for suitable personnel
- Highly competitive rate of pay, reflecting the experience required for the role
