This is a 2-3 month contract role with a local authority, aimed at providing effective assessment, support, treatment, and intervention services to children, young people, and young adults affected by substance misuse issues. The postholder will manage a caseload of service users, delivering targeted and specialist interventions to reduce harm, promote recovery, improve wellbeing, and support positive outcomes in education, employment, housing, and relationships.

Manage and coordinate a caseload of young people experiencing substance misuse issues.

Undertake comprehensive assessments, risk assessments, care planning, and regular reviews.

Deliver tailored interventions based on individual needs, vulnerabilities, and treatment goals.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records and reports.
Requirements:

Significant experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults with complex needs.

Experience supporting individuals affected by substance misuse and related behavioural issues.

Experience managing a caseload and delivering one-to-one interventions.

Recognised qualification in Substance Misuse, Youth and Community Work, Social Work, Health, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.

Educated to Degree level or equivalent professional experience.

Relevant professional certification or training at NVQ Level 4 or above, or equivalent.

Working hours: 36 hours per week.

10.00 am – 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Evening and weekend work and flexible working is required.

We work on a bi-weekly schedule.

To deliver the treatment function of the CYPS substance misuse service. The substance misuse worker will provide effective support, targeted and specialist interventions (covering tiers 2 and 3) to a caseload of clients and be an integral part of an accessible, integrated and flexible service that targets the needs of all young people aged 8 up to 25 years old in Hackney, including those in contact with the criminal justice system
