Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our busy culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and eager to support the smooth operation of our food service establishment. Previous experience in a hospitality setting is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the hospitality industry and develop valuable skills in a professional kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including washing and peeling vegetables or preparing ingredients for cooking.
- Ensure all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and equipment are cleaned and properly stored after use.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen area in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Support chefs and kitchen staff with organisational tasks to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
- Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure recycling procedures are followed.
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure the kitchen is fully equipped for daily operations.
- Follow all safety procedures diligently to prevent accidents or hazards within the kitchen environment.
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
- Familiarity with basic food preparation and cooking techniques is advantageous.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment such as a restaurant or hotel will be beneficial.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards within a kitchen setting is a plus but not mandatory.
