Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester – Worksop
£40,000+ realistic OTE | MOT tester training funded | Monday to Friday | Alternate Saturday mornings | No Sundays
Dexel Tyre & Auto Centre is looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join our friendly team in Worksop.
We’re looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician who is either already qualified as an MOT Tester or willing to undertake the necessary training to become one. Dexel will arrange and pay for all required training.
Pay and working hours
- £40,000+ per year OTE, including our performance-related bonus scheme.
- This is a realistic OTE figure, based on the lowest current earnings among employees doing the same role at the Worksop branch, not the highest.
- Average of 43.25 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday, with alternate Saturday mornings.
- No Sunday working.
- Full-time, permanent position.

The role
Working in our busy independent workshop, your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing cars and light commercial vehicles
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Using diagnostic and scanning equipment where appropriate
- Inspecting vehicles and accurately recording findings on job cards
- Identifying and reporting additional work requirements
- Carrying out MOT tests if already qualified
- Completing MOT tester training and becoming an authorised tester if not already qualified
- Working safely and maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Helping keep the workshop clean, organised and efficient
What we are looking for
You must have:
- A Level 3 NVQ, IMI, City & Guilds qualification or equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- At least four years of full-time experience servicing and repairing cars and light commercial vehicles
- A full UK driving licence
- Your own set of tools suitable for vehicle servicing and repair work
- A strong work ethic and pride in the quality of your work
- The ability to work reliably as part of a busy workshop team
- A willingness to undertake MOT tester training if you are not already authorised to conduct MOT tests
It would be an advantage if you also have:
- Current authorisation to conduct MOT tests, with annual training and assessment up to date
- Five or more years of experience as a qualified Vehicle Technician
- Electrical fault-finding, component-testing and diagnostic experience
