We are looking for an ambitious self-starter who will be an Operative at our Ellesmere Port site. Your role is at the forefront of our operation as you will be creating new products out of used tyres. You will be reporting into the Site Operations Manager. The role will be working Monday to Friday – with potential for weekend overtime.
This role is predominantly performed outside, therefore if you do not like working in an external environment and getting your hands dirty then this role is not for you. If you do not mind the open air working and are open to working in a challenging but rewarding environment. Then we might just be the company for you.
What you will do
- Work in a safe manner and report any issues that may compromise safety
- Working in line with Big Atom’s SOP and PPE
- Operate and monitor heavy machinery to achieve daily production targets
- Carry out basic maintenance of the machinery
- Complete daily clean up as required, including site entrance, walkways, under office, rest areas, Weighbridge, and vehicle route
- Carry out daily defect reporting of Mobile and Fixed plants such as Baler, Shredder and Machinery as required
- Working with engineering team
- Carry out tasks as directed by the Shift Manager
What is require of you:
- Experience working with heavy machinery such as granulators and shredders is desirable but not essential
- To be a proactive person and the ability to use your own incentives
- Focused yet flexible approach – Must be able to drive a 3.5T van to support the collection team when needed
- Basic maintenance experience is desirable
- Experience of using a Telehandler and FLT is desirable but not essential as full training will be given
- FLT experience is desirable and ideally an in-date license
- A positive can-do attitude
