About the Role
Lanesborough House is looking for an experienced and dedicated Head Housekeeper to lead and oversee our domestic and laundry departments.
This is an important role within our care home, helping to create a clean, comfortable, safe and homely environment for our residents, visitors and colleagues. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to lead and support a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, welcoming and homely environment for residents and colleagues.
- Plan, organise and deliver comprehensive cleaning schedules to ensure all areas, furnishings and communal spaces are maintained to a high standard.
- Supervise and support the domestic team to ensure cleaning schedules are completed effectively and consistently.
- Participate in staff supervisions, reviews and performance discussions, supporting team members to achieve their objectives.
- Assist with the induction and orientation of new team members.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is operated, cleaned and stored safely.
- Identify and report any defects, faults or maintenance requirements relating to equipment, furnishings or facilities.
- Ensure cleaning products are used and stored correctly in line with COSHH and Health & Safety requirements.
- Carry out regular stock checks and order cleaning and laundry consumables from approved suppliers, working within the agreed budget.
- Supervise the laundry team, ensuring equipment, machinery and cleaning products are used and stored safely and in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Ensure laundry equipment and machinery are maintained in good working order and report any faults immediately.
- Promote high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety and professionalism across the domestic and laundry departments.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a housekeeping, cleaning or domestic supervisory role, preferably within a care home or similar environment.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Experience supervising or leading a team.
- Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety requirements.
- Confidence using a range of cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- A reliable, responsible and proactive approach to work.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine commitment to creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for residents.
Hours & Shift Pattern
- 25.5 hours per week over 3 days
- Weekend availability is essential.
