We are looking for a Personal Assistant to work alongside our family caring for our 17-year-old son who has severe cerebral palsy and severe epilepsy.
This would be working 2 nights per week, including weekdays and weekends.
We have 4 children, 2 dogs & a cat so as you can imagine we have a very hectic life and our home is never quiet!
The Personal Assistant will provide care and support to our eldest son. Our son is a happy content boy who is fully dependant on others for all of his personal care.
Our son has very high complex needs and therefore requires 24-hour care.
Your shift would entail doing all our sons personal care needs including catheritising him & changing stomas then putting him to bed. Administering medicines via Gastrostomy peg, setting up feeds via a feeding pump, use of a BIPAP machine and monitoring seizures. You must be a light sleeper as our son is non verbal so makes very little noise when wakes having spasms and seizures during the night which can happen.
You will shadow an experience member of our team until you are fully confident in all aspects of your role.
There will be regular reviews of your work at staff meetings which we have every 8 weeks to see how things are going and to make sure everyone is happy and has no concerns.
- Must talk fluent English
- Must have experience in airway management, administering nutrition via a peg and seizure management.
- Must have experience working night shifts.
- Nursing experience is an advantage.
24 hours per week £384 per week.
Overtime is often available aswell as occasional day shifts.
