Job Summary
We are seeking a part-time or full-time proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our firm. In this vital role, you will support the managing director and payroll and tax manager, assisting in all aspects of accounting and tax. This is a fabulous career opportunity for an Assistant Accountant / Semi Senior Accountant who wishes to develop their career in Practice. You will ideally have previous experience working for a firm of accountants, and wish to develop a broader range of skills. Responsibilities
- Involvement in all aspects of daily bookkeeping for clients, including bank reconciliations and VAT Returns
- Annual statutory accounts production for a range of SME's (including sole traders, landlords and Limited Companies)
- Working with HMRC and clients on compliance issues
- Assisting with Corporate and Personal Tax Returns
- Assisting with Payroll and CIS returns
- Collaborating with team members and clients to resolve discrepancies in financial data and improve process efficiencies
Requirements
- Proven experience within an accountancy practice is highly desirable
- Strong data entry skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with various accounts software packages including Xero, Quickbooks, FreeAgent and VT Transactions
- Hands on attitude with all aspects of accounting, from data entry to statutory accounts production is essential
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills to collaborate within a team environment and support ongoing process improvements
This role is ideal for an accountancy studier, although applications from non-studiers and qualified by experience individuals will also be considered. The role can be part-time or full-time depending on the candidate, so if you feel you have the skill set, please apply.
