Job Description
M&M Seafood is looking for a reliable and motivated Production Team Leader to support the day-to-day running of our production operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Production Supervisor and wider management team to help coordinate production activities, maintain high standards of food safety and quality, and provide guidance and support to Production Operatives. This is a hands-on role that combines production duties with additional responsibility for monitoring workflow, maintaining standards, and assisting with team organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily operation of the production department to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Assist in coordinating and directing Production Operatives throughout the working day.
- Lead by example in all aspects of seafood processing, packing, cleaning, loading, unloading, and hygiene procedures.
- Monitor product quality and ensure all products are packed and prepared to company specifications.
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Assist with the allocation of daily tasks and help maintain productivity across the production team.
- Support stock handling, goods intake, and dispatch activities.
- Identify and report any production, quality, or operational issues to the Production Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Support general production and operational activities as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience within a food production or manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 1 year experience or knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices.
- Good understanding of food hygiene, quality standards, and safe working practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Ability to undertake manual handling duties.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues.
- Good spoken and written English.
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a small team within a production environment.
- Experience within seafood, chilled, or frozen food production.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly Gujarati and/or Hindi, to support effective communication with a diverse production team.
- Forklift training/experience.
