Midsomer Veterinary Centre was purchased by its current Head Veterinary Surgeon in August 2014 and has grown into a thriving practice with an excellent reputation throughout the local community for integrity, professionalism, and exceptional patient care.

The Role
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) where you will be an integral member of our nursing team, supporting our veterinary surgeons in delivering outstanding clinical care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting veterinary surgeons during consultations, diagnostic procedures and surgery.
- Preparing patients for anaesthesia and monitoring throughout surgical procedures.
- Providing exceptional inpatient and post-operative nursing care.
- Administering medications, vaccinations and treatments as prescribed.
- Carrying out nurse consultations and promoting preventative healthcare.
- Performing laboratory diagnostics including blood analysis, microscopy and urinalysis.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Ensuring high standards of hygiene, infection control and equipment sterilisation.
- Supporting and educating clients on preventative healthcare, nutrition and ongoing treatment plans.
- Working alongside the reception team when required to provide excellent client service.
About You
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, caring and committed to delivering the very highest standards of veterinary nursing.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse (RVN) or an equivalent recognised veterinary nursing qualification.
- Previous experience within a first-opinion small animal practice.
- Excellent communication and client care skills.
- A genuine passion for animal welfare.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in a busy clinical environment.
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- A proactive approach with a willingness to continually develop professionally.
