The Supply Room is currently recruiting for Graduate Teaching Assistants to support primary schools in Bristol. While we work with a number of schools across the city, successful candidates will be placed within one specific school, allowing you to build strong relationships with pupils and staff and become a valued part of the school community.
This is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals who are passionate about supporting children aged 4 to 11 and making a lasting impact in the classroom. The role is particularly suited to graduates interested in education, psychology, child development, mental health, or SEND support.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support learning across the classroom, provide targeted 1:1 and small group support, and help create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
A significant part of this role will involve supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Previous experience supporting children or young people with additional needs is therefore strongly desired. Graduates with psychology-related degrees, mental health experience, or backgrounds in support work, youth work, tutoring, coaching, or care are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Role Will Involve:
- Supporting teaching and learning across the classroom
- Providing 1:1 and small group interventions
- Supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
- Helping pupils stay engaged, regulated, and confident in their learning
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Assisting in creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent (essential)
- Experience, knowledge, or a strong interest in SEND and SEMH support
- A psychology-related degree or relevant experience (desirable, not essential)
- Experience working with children or young people in education, care, coaching, mentoring, or support settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach
- Reliability, professionalism, and commitment to full-time work
