Williamson Global Logistics Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driver to join our expanding team based in Derby.
This is a Monday to Friday tramping position, with nights out required during the week. No weekend work is expected, allowing you to enjoy your weekends at home.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for delivering and collecting goods throughout the UK in one of our modern rigid vehicles. As one of our drivers, you are the face of Williamson Global Logistics, so we are looking for someone who takes pride in both their work and appearance.
What We're Looking For
The successful applicant will:
- Hold a valid Category C (Class 2) HGV licence.
- Hold a valid Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Have previous experience driving large commercial vehicles and be confident operating a rigid HGV.
- Have a good understanding of EU Drivers' Hours and Working Time Regulations.
- Be reliable, punctual, honest and hardworking.
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Be smart and professional in appearance.
- Be capable of working independently while maintaining high standards at all times.
Your Vehicle
You will be allocated your own dedicated, modern vehicle, which you will keep.
We expect all drivers to take pride in their vehicle by ensuring it is kept clean, tidy and well-presented at all times, both inside and out. Daily vehicle checks and defect reporting are an essential part of the role.
Duties Include
- Nationwide deliveries and collections.
- Monday to Friday tramping with regular nights out.
- No regular weekend work.
- Completing all paperwork accurately.
- Carrying out daily walkaround checks and reporting defects.
- Delivering excellent customer service at every collection and delivery.
Tail lift experience would be preferred but is not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidate.
There may occasionally be some manual handling (handball), although this is very infrequent.
Load Security
The safe transportation of our customers' goods is paramount.
All loads must be correctly secured using appropriate load restraint equipment before every journey. Load strapping is mandatory and forms part of your legal responsibilities as an HGV driver. No vehicle leaves site unless the load has been secured correctly.
