Permanent position as a Nursery Room Leader – Pre-School room (Ages 3–4).
This is a position within a nursery in Chichester that strives to create a friendly and welcoming environment where both children and staff can thrive.
Salary £26,600 - £26,800
Hours Monday to Friday, 7:45am – 4:00pm
The nursery is open 50 weeks of the year and closes for bank holidays and two weeks over the Christmas period.
As a Room Leader you will perform an important role ensuring high standards of care for children maintaining a high-quality, stimulating learning environment in line with the EYFS framework. You will be expected to share your knowledge, be creative and lead by example to all colleagues and children within the whole setting. A Room Leader should be able to implement new ideas and use a range of strategies to continually improve practice and support the management team.

Key Responsibilities
- To contribute to the creation of a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment and be responsible for the welfare of all children
- To lead observations and the assessment of children’s learning and development ensuring records are kept up to date, are of a high standard and are shared effectively and in a timely manner – including Individual Education Plans for children with Special Educational Needs
- To work in partnership with all parents/carers, building and maintaining relationships that encourage trust, open communication and involvement in nursery life
- To work flexibly as part of the larger team, assisting and supporting colleagues, apprentices and students wherever required, in order to ensure the smooth running of the business, providing a positive and diverse working environment
- To be an active member of the team assisting with staff appraisals, supervisions, disciplinary processes and performance plans when required.
- Undertake designated responsibilities within the setting where required.

Person Specification
- Minimum Level 3 (full and relevant) Early Years Qualification
- Enhanced DBS
- Paediatric first aid
- GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) in English and Maths
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues, children and parents/carers
- A high level of integrity and empathy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience required
- Significant childcare experience
- Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and best practice
- Able to plan and provide age-appropriate activities
- Able to observe, assess and track children’s learning and development
- Experience supporting children with SEN
- Leadership experience, including experience of running or supporting the management of a nursery room
- An understanding of effective early years curriculum and best practice
- Knowledge on key operational policies and procedures e.g. health & safety, child protection, behaviour management and administering of medication and Children's developmental stages
