Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary needs and preferences
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Plan menus in collaboration with the care team, incorporating balanced nutrition and variety
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment and storage spaces
- Serve meals efficiently and courteously, ensuring residents receive timely and respectful service
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed to ensure continuous availability
- Follow all health and safety protocols to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe cooking environment
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen operations, preferably within a care home or similar setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience with meal planning and catering for diverse dietary requirements
- Familiarity with culinary techniques used in preparing nutritious meals for vulnerable populations
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with care staff and residents
