James Ray Recruitment are partnering with a law firm seeking a Head of Employment, you will play a key role in the continued growth and development of the Employment team while maintaining an active fee-earning caseload.
This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced Employment Solicitor with a proven track record of advising both employers and employees. They are particularly keen to hear from commercially minded and entrepreneurial individuals who are motivated by the challenge of developing new business streams and building and leading a successful team.
This is a full-time position based across their offices in Hull, Lincoln, or Grimsby.
Duties
- Lead the Employment department, delivering high-quality, commercially focused legal advice to clients.
- Supervise, mentor and support the ongoing development of members of the Employment Team.
- Monitor and manage the department’s financial performance, including billing, time recording and work in progress.
- Oversee the effective and efficient handling of employment matters, ensuring work is appropriately resourced and delivered to a consistently high standard.
- Ensure clients are kept informed and advised at all key stages of their matters.
- Contribute to the wider management, strategic direction and continued growth of the firm as a member of the Partnership.
- Manage client ledgers and ensure compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
Experience
- Qualified Solicitor with significant experience in Employment Law (5+ years’ PQE).
- Proven ability to manage and progress a caseload independently.
- Demonstrates ambition and a clear commitment towards Partnership.
- Strong technical knowledge and excellent drafting skills.
- Experience handling Employment Tribunal matters and proceedings.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and effectively.
- Highly organised, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Commercially minded, proactive and client-focused in approach.

Pay: £50,000.00-£65,000.00 per hour
