We are seeking a Sewing Machinist to join our team at a renowned soft play manufacturer. As a Sewing Machinist, you will play a crucial role in the production process by operating sewing machines and manufacturing together various components to create high-quality soft play products. Your attention to detail, precision sewing skills, and ability to work efficiently will contribute to the overall success of our manufacturing operations.
Job specification
- Making all or part of a product from various types of PVC
- following instructions for each sewing job
- Using a range of machine programs and sewing techniques to carry out a variation of tasks which will produce different finishes.
- Guiding the material through the machine, correcting any mistakes as you go
- Altering machine settings to suit the type of material and finish required.
- Checking that a finished article matches the pattern instructions supplied.
Previous experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Sewing manufacturing environment would be an advantage to the successful applicant, but not essential as training can be given.
- Sewing as a hobby will also be strongly considered.
Personal Specifications
- A flexible approach to work, demonstrating willingness to work in various departments as projects require.
- Well organised in order to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
- Able to work independently and use initiative when un-supervised, but also work as part of a team.
What we offer
- £12.21 per hour to start off with
- Working hours Mon – Thu: 07:00 – 17:00 Fri 7:00 - 11:00
- This is a temp job with a view to perm
- Overtime available paid at enhanced rates of (x1.5 & x2) for time worked over the 40hrs.
- 20 days holiday plus 8 statutory days per year.
- Regular opportunities to develop and learn new skills via employer funded training.
