About the role
This is a fixed-term, project-linked role created solely to maintain continuity of routine supply on Bard’s existing (legacy) Filling & Packaging lines while permanent operators are released to act as workplace trainers and trainees for the new expansion assets (Lines 24, 25, 26 and associated equipment).
The role exists only for the duration of the Filling & Packaging Expansion Training Workstream and will conclude when that workstream is complete. The post-holder supports the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of legacy packaging lines only, ensuring accurate packaging of Bard’s commercial products to approved specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements so that customer supply is protected during the transition period.
The post-holder will not be trained, assessed, qualified, deployed, or scheduled on any new expansion line or asset.
Your key responsibilities
Support Legacy Filling & Packaging Operations
Assist in the set-up, start-up, and changeover of designated legacy Filling & Packaging lines, working to approved SOPs and accurately completing batch documentation to support daily production targets during the expansion transition period.
Operate assigned equipment safely and effectively to ensure consistent delivery of production plans and supply requirements.
Uphold product quality standards throughout all packaging activities in line with approved specifications and regulatory requirements.
Drive Operational Performance
Monitor equipment performance, identify abnormalities, and escalate issues promptly to minimize downtime and protect Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) on legacy lines.
Support effective line performance by following established operating standards and best practices.
Contribute to the efficient execution of production schedules while maintaining compliance and quality requirements.
Maintain Continuous Improvement & Workplace Standards
Maintain high housekeeping standards through the application of 5S and GEMBA principles.
Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and performance improvements within the legacy production environment.
Support initiatives that improve operational effectiveness while maintaining compliance with established procedures.
Collaborate Across Teams
Communicate effectively during shift handovers to ensure continuity of operations.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support uninterrupted legacy-line performance while permanent colleagues are engaged in expansion training activities.
Escalate production, quality, or equipment concerns appropriately to support timely resolution.
Ensure Compliance, Quality & Safety
Follow all GMP requirements and maintain training compliance within the defined legacy-line scope.
Comply fully with company policies and Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) standards.
Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain compliance with quality systems, procedures, and regulatory requirements applicable to the role.

Formally recognised Packaging Qualification (e.g., NVQ).
Packaging machinery certification gained through OEM in-house training.
Experience

Experience working within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Experience operating modern, complex, high-speed packaging machinery.
Knowledge & Skills
Good practical aptitude with strong documentation skills.
Demonstrates strong attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions accurately.
Ability to calibrate associated equipment in accordance with written procedures and accurately record results.
Good communication skills and a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
Working Conditions
Fixed-Term Project Nature of the Role
This position is wholly and exclusively connected to the Filling & Packaging Expansion Training Workstream.
The role is not a permanent operator position and is not part of the routine, ongoing Filling & Packaging operator establishment.
The contract will terminate upon completion of the Expansion Training Workstream (indicatively up to 24 months). Completion of that workstream is the specific event or task upon which the fixed term will end.
The post-holder will not be trained, assessed, qualified, deployed, or rostered on the new expansion lines or assets (Lines 24, 25, 26, or associated equipment).
The role scope is confined exclusively to designated legacy Filling & Packaging lines during the transition period.
