Mastertronic Vehicle Solutions Ltd. is looking for a reliable, motivated, and skilled Mechanic / Junior Mechanic to join our busy automotive workshop in Watford.
We are open to applications from both experienced mechanics and junior mechanics who are looking to develop their skills and build a career in the automotive industry.
The successful candidate will work on a wide range of vehicles, carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and inspections. Experienced technicians will be expected to work confidently and independently, while junior mechanics will receive support and guidance from experienced members of the team.

Responsibilities
- Carry out routine vehicle servicing, maintenance, and inspections.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
- Repair, replace, and maintain vehicle components and parts.
- Carry out repairs to engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust systems, and other vehicle components.
- Assist with vehicle inspections, safety checks, and road tests when required.
- Use workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic systems safely and correctly.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of work carried out and parts used.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding vehicle faults, repairs, and work progress.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop.
- Complete work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Continue developing knowledge and skills as vehicle technology changes.
Junior Mechanic Opportunity
We are also looking for a Junior Mechanic who is keen to learn and develop a career in the automotive industry.
Previous workshop experience is beneficial but not essential. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn from experienced technicians and gain practical experience in vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
The Junior Mechanic will be expected to:
- Assist experienced mechanics with servicing and repairs.
- Learn how to safely use workshop tools and equipment.
- Develop skills in vehicle inspections, maintenance, and fault-finding.
- Assist with brake, suspension, exhaust, servicing, and general mechanical work.
- Learn to use diagnostic equipment and understand vehicle fault codes.
- Follow instructions and workshop safety procedures.
- Keep the workshop and work areas clean and organised.
- Develop technical knowledge and confidence through hands-on experience.
- Show a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as skills improve.
Requirements – Mechanic
- Previous experience as a Mechanic or Vehicle Technician.
- Relevant automotive qualification such as NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds, or equivalent practical experience.
- Good mechanical and diagnostic skills.
- Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment.
- Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and time-management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
MOT Tester certification is an advantage but not essential.
Requirements – Junior Mechanic
- Genuine interest in cars and vehicle mechanics.
- Willingness to learn and develop practical skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Good attention to detail.
- Able to follow instructions and work safely.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Previous garage, workshop, college, or automotive experience is an advantage but not essential.
- Automotive qualification, apprenticeship, or college training is beneficial but not required.
