HGV Mechanic – DAF & Volvo Road Marking Fleet
We are looking for an experienced and reliable HGV Mechanic to join our team, working on a fleet of DAF and Volvo road marking vehicles.
This is a varied role for someone who can work independently, take responsibility for the maintenance of a busy fleet, and ensure vehicles are kept safe, reliable and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organise the workshop workload and maintenance schedule.
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on DAF and Volvo HGVs.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
- Carry out repairs and ensure vehicles are returned to service safely and efficiently this could call for out of hours call outs where required.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT testing, identifying and rectifying any issues beforehand.
- Present vehicles for MOT and ensure all necessary documentation is maintained.
- Carry out inspections and maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Work closely with management and vehicle operators to prioritise urgent repairs and minimise vehicle downtime.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician.
- Experience working on DAF and Volvo vehicles would be highly advantageous.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good knowledge of HGV servicing, maintenance and repair.
- Experience preparing vehicles for MOT.
- The ability to plan workloads and prioritise tasks effectively.
- A responsible, organised and proactive approach to work.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- An HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
