12 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT
About us
We are the Institute for Government and Public Policy.
Our vision is to be a leading influencer and informer in the ongoing public policy development and debate.
Our focus is on government and public policy and on how it impacts all those it affects. Our belief is that the most productive and positive outcomes can only be delivered through enhancing knowledge, disseminating excellence, collaboration, and ongoing discussions.
We support our partners, members, and other stakeholders through professional development (including events, courses, and membership), peer-to-peer support, policy and influence, and research.
The role
The Conference Producer supports the Research and Content team in producing and delivering online and face-to-face conferences and events and sits within the Operational Management Team.
This team currently comprises a department head, one Senior Conference Producer, one conference producer (this role) and two operations executives.
The primary role of Research and Content is to produce conference and event concepts, develop event content, and acquire conference chairs and speakers to deliver each course or conference.
IGPP delivers between 40 and 60 full-day conferences a year, of which approximately 10 are face-to-face (normally held in Central London). Alongside these, we deliver a range of training events.
Research and Content also contributes to our marketing and membership activity, for example by conducting surveys, sourcing and producing research, writing post-event reports, and producing blogs.
Content underpins everything we do. You will create topical, relevant, interesting and engaging events that deliver commercial success. Ideally, our events will be anchored to a current legislative or public policy change, supported by evidence-based academic research.
You will need to identify and select the best topics against these criteria. Horizon scanning, research and analysis, including customer and past-performance data, are essential tools in this process. Once topics are chosen, you will schedule them (avoiding competitor and other conflicts) and oversee the writing of high-quality overviews and agendas that support the commercial success of the event.
With these in place, you will identify and secure high-quality speakers and trainers, reflecting a broad range of perspectives and backgrounds, and gain their commitment as early as possible ahead of each event to give marketing and sales the maximum opportunity to sell them.
