Job Summary
KLR Rail & Construction Services Ltd is seeking experienced IRATA Level 3 Technicians to join our Rope Access team, working on railway and civil infrastructure projects across the UK. This role involves leading rope access teams to carry out inspection, maintenance, and construction work at height, often within possessions or live rail environments.
Responsibilities:
- Act as Supervisor for rope access teams, ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with IRATA ICOP and current legislation
- Plan and oversee rigging, rescue plans, and risk assessments for each task
- Carry out inspection, maintenance, repair, and construction tasks at height using rope access techniques
- Supervise and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians on site
- Ensure all equipment is inspected, maintained, and used correctly
- Work safely within possessions, following all railway safety procedures
- Liaise with site management and clients to ensure project requirements are met
- Report hazards, near misses, or safety concerns to site supervisors
Experience:
- Proven experience working as an IRATA Level 3 Supervisor
- Experience within a railway, utilities, or civil infrastructure environment (desirable)
- Experience planning and delivering rescue plans and risk assessments
- Comfortable working at height in all weather conditions
- Experience working night shifts or within possessions (desirable)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and train junior technicians
Requirements:
- Valid IRATA Level 3 certificate — essential
- Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) certificate — essential
- Full UK driving licence
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
- Good understanding of health & safety procedures on and around the railway
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- First Aid at Work certificate
- SSSTS/SMSTS
- Previous experience on Network Rail or rail infrastructure contracts
- Confined Space training
Pay: £27.00-£29.00 per hour
