About the role
At Balfour Beatty, some of the most important decisions are made long before construction starts. As a Bid Manager, you’ll be at the centre of those decisions — shaping how complex, high-profile projects are conceived, costed, and ultimately delivered across our Regional Build London team and the wider region.
This is a high-impact role where your ideas, leadership, and commercial insight will directly influence the success of major infrastructure and construction schemes that communities rely on every day.
What you'll be doing
As a Bid Manager you will:
Lead the preconstruction journey on strategically important bids, from early engagement through to contract award
Bring together design, commercial, planning, and delivery teams to create winning, buildable solutions
Develop innovative construction methodologies that balance cost, programme, quality, and safety
Work closely with clients to understand their challenges and shape solutions that add real value
Drive risk management, value engineering, and smart use of the supply chain
Set the standard for excellence in bidding, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
Strong experience in preconstruction, bids, or work-winning within construction or infrastructure
A confident leader who can motivate teams and influence senior stakeholders
Commercial awareness with a practical understanding of how projects are built
The ability to think strategically, challenge assumptions, and find better ways to deliver
A passion for quality, safety, and sustainable construction.
