Overview
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care and assistance to individuals in need. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for those you support, including seniors and individuals with mental health care requirements . You will work closely with clients to implement care plans, manage behaviours, and ensure their safety and well-being in both home care and care home settings.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised support to clients, ensuring their dignity and independence are maintained.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement and monitor care plans tailored to individual needs, adjusting as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Engage in behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce challenging behaviours.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a trusting relationship with clients.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to patient care.
Skills
- Strong background in patient care, with a focus on mental health care.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing effective care plans.
- Experience in behaviour management techniques to support clients effectively.
- Knowledge of first aid procedures to ensure client safety during emergencies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
