UVISON Technologies Ltd is looking for an experienced and proactive QHSE Manager to take ownership of our Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management systems.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining the ongoing management and development of our established ISO 9001 Quality Management System, responsibility for company Health & Safety, and leading the implementation of an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our management systems are practical, effective and fully integrated into our day-to-day operations. They will work closely with managers and employees across the business to maintain compliance, drive continual improvement and develop a positive culture around quality, safety and environmental responsibility.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Management / ISO 14001
· Lead the implementation of an Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001. Training course to be provided.
· Manage the project through to successful ISO 14001 certification.
· Identify and maintain the organisation’s environmental aspects and impacts.
· Develop and maintain environmental policies, objectives and improvement programmes.
· Identify applicable environmental legislation and other compliance obligations and ensure these are regularly reviewed.
· Monitor environmental performance, including areas such as waste, energy consumption, transport, emissions and resource use.
· Develop appropriate environmental KPIs and reporting.
· Coordinate environmental audits, inspections and management reviews.
· Promote environmental awareness and good practice throughout the company.
· Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve sustainability.
Quality Management / ISO 9001
· Take responsibility for the ongoing management and continual improvement of the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
· Maintain and develop QMS documentation, policies, procedures and records.
· Ensure processes remain compliant with ISO 9001 requirements.
· Plan and conduct internal audits across the business.
· Coordinate external certification and surveillance audits and act as the main point of contact for the certification body.
· Manage non-conformities, corrective actions and opportunities for improvement.
· Monitor quality objectives, KPIs and customer satisfaction information.
· Support departments in identifying and improving processes.
· Coordinate and document Management Review meetings.
· Maintain appropriate document control and record-keeping systems.
· Ensure corrective actions arising from audits, complaints or internal reviews are completed effectively.
Health & Safety
· Manage and develop the company’s Health & Safety management arrangements.
· Ensure compliance with relevant UK Health & Safety legislation and recognised good practice.
· Maintain the company’s Health & Safety policies, procedures and records.
· Coordinate and review workplace and task-specific risk assessments.
· Ensure risk assessments are reviewed following significant changes, incidents and at appropriate scheduled intervals.
· Conduct regular workplace inspections and Health & Safety audits.
· Monitor and manage actions arising from inspections and risk assessments.
· Coordinate accident, incident and near-miss reporting and investigations.
· Identify trends and recommend appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
· Maintain COSHH assessments and other relevant Health & Safety documentation.
· Monitor First Aid, Fire Safety and emergency arrangements.
· Ensure statutory inspections, checks and maintenance requirements are completed and recorded.
· Coordinate Health & Safety training requirements and maintain appropriate training records.
· Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on Health & Safety matters.
· Liaise with external Health & Safety advisers where appropriate.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
· Maintain awareness of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and changes to ISO standards.
· Maintain appropriate registers of legal and compliance obligations.
· Develop meaningful Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental KPIs.
· Produce regular QHSE reports for senior management.
· Identify areas of risk and opportunities for improvement.
· Support the business with investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
· Encourage employee involvement in Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental initiatives.
· Help embed a culture of continual improvement across the organisation.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
· Previous experience in a Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental or QHSE role.
· Working knowledge of ISO 9001.
· IOSH or NEBOSH certified
· Experience of managing or maintaining an ISO-certified management system.
· Experience conducting internal audits.
· Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
· Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear policies, procedures and reports.
· Must be confident communicating with employees, managers, external auditors and advisers.
· Able to work independently, prioritise workload and take ownership of projects.
· Practical and pragmatic approach to compliance and management systems.
· Strong attention to detail.
Desirable
· Previous experience implementing ISO 14001 or managing an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
· Experience taking an organisation through ISO 14001 certification.
· Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
· IEMA environmental qualification or equivalent.
· Experience working within an engineering, technical, manufacturing or service-based organisation.
· Experience working with integrated management systems covering ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Health & Safety.

2. Taking ownership of the company’s Health & Safety management arrangements and outstanding improvement actions.
3. Completing a gap analysis against ISO 14001 requirements.
4. Developing and implementing the Environmental Management System.
5. Establishing environmental objectives, aspects and impacts, compliance obligations and monitoring arrangements.
6. Preparing the business for successful ISO 14001 certification.
7. Developing an integrated and proportionate approach to Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management across the company.
