CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed-term Contract/Attachment, Full-time (6 months – Parental leave cover)

LOCATION: Pacific Quay, Glasgow (Hybrid – 2 days per week in Glasgow)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £47,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF ROLE
Lead BBC Scotland’s social media team, managing our flagship brand accounts across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X. You’ll be responsible for and deliver audience-first social strategies and high-impact campaigns, using short, mid and long-form video content to drive engagement and results. Working across BBC Scotland’s diverse content portfolio, including drama, comedy, factual, entertainment, current affairs and sport, you’ll oversee the creation, scheduling and publishing of promotional content across digital platforms. Recent campaigns include Dinosaur, TRNSMT, Murder Trial and The Agency: Unfiltered. Reporting to the Head of Social & Digital, you’ll collaborate with internal teams, production partners and talent to deliver industry-leading social campaigns.
We’re looking for a highly organised, collaborative social media professional with experience leading teams and managing major brand accounts.

You’ll work with partners across the business and be directly involved in shaping BBC Scotland’s strategy on social platforms on a day-to-day basis. We’re a creative, energetic and strategic team with audiences at the heart of everything we do. We are focused on delivering compelling campaigns for BBC content that connects with audiences in Scotland across the UK.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Responsible for day-to-day line management of team creating content for and running social accounts.
- Acting as editorial lead for our accounts, making complex editorial decisions and referring to Head of Social or Editorial Policy as required.
- Leading on social strategy that puts the audience first.
- Developing relationships across the business to drive forward new initiatives and influence strategic thinking at all levels.
- Advising on best practice and the latest advances to inform creative and publishing teams.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience leading major brand accounts and managing the teams behind them - developing and delivering social media strategies, influencing the creation of content and managing communities.
- In-depth understanding of BBC Scotland, its output and purpose alongside a deep and passionate knowledge of Scottish culture.
- Extensive editorial guidelines experience and understanding of reputation management for large brand accounts, including dealing with complex editorial issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across teams. Able to manage self and others within a complex matrix structure with shared responsibilities.
- Ability to transform audience needs/behaviours, business requirements and platform analytics into strategic thinking.
