Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Shed Fitter to head up our teams. This is a hands-on role combining the day-to-day installation of sheds, summerhouses and other garden buildings with responsibility for overseeing and supporting our fitting teams.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on installations in the field while also helping to ensure that all fitting teams maintain high standards of workmanship, efficiency and customer service.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, proven leadership skills and an excellent problem solving mind. Previous experience in construction or trades is essential. Must be a critical thinker, who enjoys an active and physical role, operating outdoors.
Duties
- Lead the assembly and fitting of sheds, including base preparation, roofing, and finishing
- Preparing sites by clearing debris and ensuring safety standards are maintained
- Reading job sheets carefully to ensure accurate assembly
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations and company standards
- Unloading & loading of sheds, timber & other building materials
- Ensuring yard is kept clean & tidy
- Lead by example and maintain a high standard of workmanship on every installation.
- Oversee and support other fitting teams, helping to ensure installations are completed correctly and efficiently.
- Help organise fitting teams and workloads alongside the management team.
- Provide guidance and practical support to fitters when required.
- Carry out quality checks and help maintain consistent installation standards across all teams.
- Identify and resolve issues that arise during installations.
- Ensure tools, vehicles and equipment are used correctly and looked after.
- Communicate professionally with customers while working on site.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Help train and develop new and existing members of the fitting team.
- Report any installation, product or customer issues back to the management team.
Skills
- Has experience in shed fitting, timber buildings, carpentry, construction or a similar trade.
- Has previous experience leading or supervising a team.
- Is practical, hardworking and comfortable working outdoors throughout the year.
- Takes pride in producing high-quality work.
- Has strong problem-solving skills and can deal confidently with unexpected issues on site.
- Is reliable, organised and able to manage their own workload.
- Can communicate effectively with customers, fitters and the management team.
- Is comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions when required.
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
This is not purely a management or supervisory position. The successful candidate will be expected to remain fully hands-on, working alongside our fitting teams and regularly carrying out installations.
The role would suit an experienced fitter or tradesperson looking to take the next step into a position with greater responsibility while continuing to work practically in the field.

Pay: From £29,000.00 per year
