About Us
We are a leading manufacturer of premium shower trays, producing high-quality products using a gelcoat and resin-based manufacturing process. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Gelcoat Repair & Finishing Technician to join our production team in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
This is a specialist role requiring hands-on experience with sprayed gelcoat finishes, cosmetic repairs, polishing, refinishing, and ideally the refurbishment and repair of production tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect finished gelcoat products for cosmetic defects, imperfections, scratches, pinholes, chips, colour inconsistencies, and surface blemishes.
- Carry out high-quality gelcoat repairs to achieve a factory-finish standard.
- Colour match and blend repairs into existing surfaces.
- Sand, polish, buff and refinish gelcoat surfaces to a high cosmetic standard.
- Assess and rectify manufacturing defects relating to gelcoat application and curing.
- Work closely with production teams to identify recurring quality issues and help implement corrective actions.
- Maintain quality records and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the refurbishment, repair and maintenance of moulds and tooling where required.
Desired Experience

- Gelcoat spraying and finishing.
- GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) manufacturing.
- Composite manufacturing environments.
- Marine, boatbuilding or yacht manufacturing.
- Caravan and motorhome manufacturing.
- Swimming pool manufacturing.
- Aerospace composites.
- Wind turbine blade manufacture.
- Sanitaryware, bath, shower tray or similar moulded products.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience repairing cosmetic defects in gelcoat surfaces.
- Excellent understanding of gelcoat materials, curing characteristics and finishing techniques.
- Ability to repair scratches, chips, pinholes, cracks and other surface imperfections.
- Skilled in sanding, polishing and restoring high-gloss finishes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and consistently achieve high cosmetic standards.
Desirable Skills
- Experience repairing and refurbishing GRP moulds and production tooling.
- Experience with mould preparation and surface restoration.
- Understanding of gelcoat spraying equipment and application processes.
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing techniques and materials.
- Root cause analysis and quality improvement experience.
