Yard Supervisor
Job Description:
Based in Roade, Northampton
Rubbish2Go are currently recruiting for a Yard Supervisor. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on supervisor to take charge of our yard and the team that runs it.
This is a busy, fast-moving yard. Priorities change through the day and loads arrive when they arrive, so we need someone who can re-plan on their feet, keep the team focused and keep the yard moving.
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous experience directly managing or supervising yard staff (essential)
- Previous experience working in a yard environment
- Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities throughout the day
- Ability to give clear instruction, set standards and hold a team to them
- Good working knowledge of health & safety in a yard or operational environment
- Full UK driving license
Desired Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in the waste or recycling industry
- HGV / LGV licence with valid CPC
- Excavator / 360 ticket
- Forklift trained
- Loading shovel, telehandler or other plant tickets
- First Aid or IOSH qualified
Day to Day Duties:
- Supervising and allocating work to the yard team on a day to day basis
- Managing rotas, timekeeping and day to day performance
- Inducting, training and developing yard staff and new starters
- Planning and re-planning the day's work as priorities change
- Overseeing the unloading, segregation and processing of different waste streams
- Overseeing the lifting and loading of waste into skips and containers
- Coordinating with drivers and the office to keep vehicle turnaround times down
- Maintaining a safe & clean working yard
- Carrying out toolbox talks, safety briefings and PPE checks
- Daily checks on plant and equipment, reporting defects and maintenance needs
- Driving Forklifts and operating plant as required (training provided)

Hours of work are Monday – Friday, some flexibility required. Our working hours are 7am – 5pm with occasional overtime. We Carry out DBS checks on all applicants
We are located in a semi-remote location therefore the applicant must have their own transport to get to and from work. Position is available immediately.

Pay: £32,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
