What we're looking for
We're looking for an inspiring Room Leader who is passionate about creating exceptional experiences for children, supporting their team to flourish, and leading by example every single day.
Lead with confidence – Inspire and support your team, ensuring every day runs smoothly while maintaining the highest standards of care, learning and compliance with the EYFS.
Be a trusted leader – Work closely with the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager, helping to shape a positive culture where children and colleagues can thrive.
Keep everything flowing – Organise staff rotas, maintain ratios, plan non-contact time, and make sure your room is well-prepared for every part of the day.
Drive excellence – Play an active role in developing the nursery by contributing ideas, supporting quality improvements, and helping your team achieve their full potential.
Create inspiring spaces – Design an engaging, welcoming environment where children's interests lead the learning, curiosity is encouraged, and every child feels excited to explore.

Childcare & EYFS Curriculum
Deliver an outstanding EYFS Curriculum – Implement and monitor an effective educational framework that reflects the EYFS, ensuring all children have access to rich, varied and purposeful learning experiences that inspire curiosity and support their individual development.
Lead children's learning journeys – Take lead responsibility for the planning, observation, assessment and tracking of children's development using our nursery management system, ensuring records are meaningful, up to date and include two-year progress checks and SEND documentation where required.
Be a trusted Key Person – Act as the key person for a designated group of children, building strong, nurturing relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing and personalised learning for every child.
Champion inclusive practice – Promote an inclusive environment where every child can thrive, ensuring individual needs are identified early and met through timely interventions, appropriate adaptations and effective partnership working with families and professionals.
Staff Development & Teamwork
Lead by example – Role model best practice, professionalism and a positive attitude at all times, inspiring your team to deliver outstanding care and education every day.
Support others to grow – Mentor and support apprentices, new team members and less experienced colleagues through regular feedback, peer observations and positive coaching, helping everyone to build confidence and reach their potential.
Champion continuous development – Contribute to and actively participate in supervisions, appraisals and staff training plans, creating a culture of learning, reflection and professional growth.
Keep the team connected – Ensure everyone is clear on daily plans, expectations and room goals through effective briefings, open communication and a collaborative approach that keeps the day running smoothly.
️ Health, Safety & Compliance
Keep everyone safe – Ensure high standards of hygiene, food safety and site security are maintained at all times, creating a safe and welcoming environment for children, families and colleagues.
️ Stay one step ahead – Carry out regular risk assessments and ensure outings, fire bags and first aid kits are checked, maintained and replenished in line with nursery procedures.
Be ready for anything – Understand and confidently follow all emergency procedures, including Code Red, Code Purple, Fire Evacuation and Lockdown procedures.
Champion Safeguarding – Ensure full adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures, acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) when required, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local safeguarding guidance.
Parent & Community Engagement
Build strong partnerships – Develop trusting, respectful relationships with families through warm daily handovers, meaningful updates on our nursery management system and responsive communication.
Create memorable experiences – Lead and support parent events, celebrations and community initiatives that strengthen relationships and bring our nursery community together.
Give families the best start – Welcome new children and families through effective settling-in sessions, key person introductions and regular review meetings, ensuring every family feels valued from day one.

Organisation & Administration
Stay organised – Complete daily and weekly checklists, trackers and planning documents accurately and on time to keep the nursery running smoothly.
Keep records up to date – Monitor and update children's and staff profiles on our nursery management system, ensuring information is accurate and compliant.
Drive quality – Carry out and document Peer Observations of Practice (POPs), learning walks and quality audits, using these to celebrate strengths and continually improve practice.
Plan inspiring experiences – Organise weekly activities, learning intentions and parent communications that reflect children's interests and next steps in learning.
Keep the day running smoothly – Manage everyday responsibilities including registers, snack menus, self-registration boards and other essential room administration.
